ITSHOP247.de

Translating industry expertise into an independent retail business.

Development and operation of my first proprietary online store featuring several thousand IT products for private and business customers. The business model combined a broad dropshipping assortment with manufacturer cooperations, targeted online and print advertising, and the direct acquisition of commercial accounts.

Period: 2005–2006
Business Field & Location: IT Online Retail · Düsseldorf, Germany

Unifying assortment, marketing, and sales.

BUSINESS ESTABLISHMENT

Establishing a proprietary IT retail offering.

Launching an online store featuring several thousand IT products via a dropshipping model. Focused on private consumers, particularly students and younger buyers, as well as commercial operators, mid-sized enterprises, and corporate accounts. Full responsibility for developing and operating the proprietary retail business.

MANUFACTURERS & SALES

Leveraging industry networks for the business.

Collaboration with manufacturers and distributors, including Dicota, Wortmann, Fujitsu Siemens, Toshiba, and Tech Data. Integrating cooperative marketing allowances into promotional activities. Securing initial B2B orders from my personal network, including a major contract supplying Toshiba tablet PCs to a leading enterprise group.

TARGETED MARKETING

Presenting products where demand originates.

Conception and execution of regional flyer campaigns across university campuses in Düsseldorf, Duisburg, and Essen. Combining selected manufacturer promotions with custom product pricing, graphic design, and distribution. Supplemented by banner advertising on a web community and specialized purchasing tier partnerships.

MARKETING IN PRACTICE

Aligning manufacturer offerings with specific target audiences.

Marketing combined regional print initiatives with online advertising and joint manufacturer promotions. Flyer campaigns specifically targeted university environments in Düsseldorf, Duisburg, and Essen. Conception, product pricing, and execution were managed under direct personal responsibility.

The business model also encompassed closed user groups featuring special purchasing terms. This allowed targeted engagement with selected customer segments, binding them to the online store through tailored offerings.

Transitioning from a proprietary store back to an executive management role.

ITSHOP247.de went live on July 7, 2005. The store translated previously acquired experience in IT product and business management into an independent retail enterprise.

Following an offer from my former employer product+concept to assume the position of Head of Product Management & Distribution in Berlin, a strategic decision was made to conclude operations for ITSHOP247.de in June 2006.
