Leading purchasing. Realigning Category Management.

As Head of Purchasing at redcoon, I combined commercial responsibility with team leadership and project management in a corporate environment. Reporting directly to the CPO/COO, I was responsible for purchasing volume, revenue, margin, and supplier structure. A key focus was the further development of Category Management as part of the integration into the Media-Saturn Group.

COMMERCIAL MANAGEMENT & LEADERSHIP

Aligning assortment, terms, and bottom-line results.

PURCHASING & RESULTS

Commercial business management.

Purchasing and revenue planning, margin management, and monitoring of inventory metrics. Development of product assortment and supplier structure, as well as contract negotiations, annual terms, and marketing budgets. Pricing aligned with competitive market dynamics and corporate objectives.

LEADERSHIP & PROCESSES

Responsibility beyond procurement.

Leadership of the Category Management team and direct alignment with the CPO/COO. Key contact for engineering, external software developers, and defined dropshipping workflows. Subsequenly entrusted with additional responsibilities in Platform Management.

Developing partnerships and marketing.

Establishment of marketing and sales cooperations, development and negotiation of campaigns, and implementation of marketing KPIs within Category Management. Project management for cross-company marketing initiatives, including the “redcoon eBay TakeOver”.

CORPORATE INTEGRATION & CATEGORY MANAGEMENT

Aligning purchasing with performance metrics.

In addition to operational management, I led the project “KPI Driven Category Management” in collaboration with Alvarez & Marsal. The project focused on implementing metric-driven management and realigning purchasing functions within the corporate integration framework.

Project-related alignment with the CPO and the Management Board of Media-Saturn complemented direct reporting in daily operations. The role thus merged operational purchasing management with the strategic development of organizational structures and control instruments.

Management in international e-commerce.

redcoon was an international consumer electronics online retailer within the Media-Saturn Group. With a presence in eight European countries, around 700 employees, and an annual turnover of approximately 400 million euros, the company provided the framework for volume purchasing management. Initial operations began in SDA (Small Domestic Appliances), followed by expanded responsibilities in the MDA (Major Domestic Appliances) category.

Following a change in management and a realigned strategic focus, the employment concluded at my own request in April 2015. The official reference letter confirms consistently outstanding performance and leadership capabilities.
